Hi, I'm Derek Sammak. For years, I served in full-time ministry at kings' Church NYC under Pastor David Engelhardt — not from the outside looking in, but as the person actually building the systems the church ran on.
When the church lost its building, we didn't just lose a room — we lost the one fixed point everything else was built around. Suddenly we were coordinating volunteers, production, and services across one of the busiest, most unpredictable cities in the world, with no walls to hold it together. I designed a mobile worship rig that let us hold services in NYC subway stations, rebuilt our livestream and volunteer systems from scratch, and turned what used to live in scattered group texts into a documented Church Operations HQ the team could actually run on — without me having to be everywhere at once.
Before ministry, I spent over a decade leading creative teams and building brand systems in the agency world — national retail design, brand strategy, production at scale. That background is exactly why I was able to handle a growing church in crisis: I didn't just understand ministry from the inside, I knew how to build the kind of infrastructure that holds up when everything around it is moving.
I left full-time ministry a little over a year ago to do this work full-time — because I kept seeing the same pattern everywhere: churches with real momentum, held together by people running on memory instead of a system built to last.
